A Word from the Editor
By Hannah Tucker
I didn’t always want to study agriculture. Growing up on a small farm instilled a respect for the industry in me, but I had other careers in mind during high school.
I wanted to be a marine biologist. I have always been fascinated by ocean life, and I was hooked on the idea of studying sea creatures for a living. However, that dream soon changed.
One day, curious about what Purdue Agriculture offered, I skimmed the list of majors online. Agricultural communication caught my eye. I liked to write, but I hadn’t thought of doing it as a career. And I definitely hadn’t thought of writing about agriculture.
I went on a tour of the college to get a better feel for the campus and program. Twenty minutes in, I was sold. What sold me was the personal connection between the students and faculty that I experienced.
The Purdue College of Agriculture is a family. We want each other to succeed, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen. From my first advisor meeting and walk around campus, I knew that Purdue was where I belonged.
This magazine tells the stories of Purdue Agriculture students. Our passions are different, but we have one thing in common. We are a family. And we would love to have you join us.
