Meet Students that have participated in the Purdue Youth Institute

Meet Molly McKneight, one of our very first Indiana delegates at the Global Youth Institute

Molly McKneight discovered that food science provided an opportunity to have a global impact. As a high school senior, she made a pledge to fight world hunger. Since then, she's walked the walk, doing international research in Turkey and Africa and interning with Purdue's Center for Global Food Security. Read more here:

Meet Caroline Sherlow, 2013 Purdue and Global Youth Institute Participant

This past year, I had the opportunity to participate in both the Purdue Youth Institute and the Global Youth Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. For my paper, I researched the effect that gender inequity in rural India has on national food security. I knew very little about the subject before I began. However, as I progressed in my research, I began to gain a new appreciation for the complexity of the issues surrounding global food security. At the Purdue Youth Institute, I had the opportunity to interact with experts in agriculture, as well as other students with similar interests. Overall, it was an amazing experience that I would recommend to any student who wants to learn more about the issues pertaining to global food security.
