Graduate Student Profile
Miranda is a Master’s student in Agricultural Sciences Education & Communication under the supervision of Dr. Sarah LaRose focusing on Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of secondary preservice teachers in laboratory instruction in Animal Sciences. Specifically focusing on the topic of animal science-dissection. This project will be looking at preservice agriculture teachers’ Professional Knowledge Bases & Collective PCK. Miranda also TA’s for Dr. LaRose’s Laboratory Practice Course in Agriculture Education (ASEC 340) and has been authoring a couple extension documents about laboratory teaching spaces in SBAE schools in Indiana.

Miranda is a TA and helps with Purdue Horse Extension under the supervision of Dr. Colleen Brady. Miranda TA’s Introduction to Animal Agriculture (ANSC 102), The Role of Horses in Human Culture & Society (ANSC 331), and Horse Management (ANSC 440). Miranda’s responsibilities with Purdue Horse Extension involves coordinating events, advertising information about equine science, and participating in youth development in the 4-H Horse & Pony project. Currently, she is developing online material for Hippology and Hose Bowl Contests and is a project coordinator for Equine Management Signature Program. This program supports horse owners in learning basic management skills to enhance the well-being and performance of their horses. 

Miranda’s career aspirations are to teach at the college level and to combine her knowledge of animal sciences and equine science to develop her own curriculum.
