The view ahead - spring 2021

Throughout the past year, I have encouraged the College of Agriculture community to join in responding to the difficult circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic with compassion, patience and resilience. We have faced extremely difficult circumstances, but we have come together to Protect Purdue, to enable students to return to campus to pursue their education and to help communities throughout the state.

I was equally impressed that much of the research in the College of Agriculture remained active throughout the pandemic. I am proud and grateful for the commitment of our faculty, staff and students to the work they pursue to make an impact on the future.

Recognizing our college’s ongoing commitment to discovery and innovation, we are proud to announce that the Board of Trustees voted in April to invest in Purdue’s Next Moves projects in our college. They are Plant Sciences 2.0 and the Digital Innovation in Agri-Food Systems Lab (DIAL), a component of the new Purdue Applied Research Institute. For now, what I want to emphasize is how incredibly inspired I am by our college and the alumni, donors and stakeholders who support its mission. Purdue Agriculture is positioned to be a leader in addressing the greatest global challenges of today and the future because of your compassion, patience, resilience and, yes, Boilermaker determination.
