Plant and Pest Diagnostic Laboratory
The Purdue University Plant and Pest Diagnostic Laboratory works to diagnose plant diseases and identify insects, plants and weeds and other plant and pest problems. This service is provided for the specialists and county extension educators of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and Purdue University's research faculty, staff, and students as well as for private businesses and citizens of Indiana.
PARKING: A reserved metered parking space is available at the west entrance to the LSPS Plant and Soils Building. If you encounter any problems with parking, please call Todd Abrahamson at 765-494-7071.
The PPDL is OPEN. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN ALL PURDUE BUILDINGS REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS. If you drop off a sample please leave it on the table outside of our office with your completed submission form. We will pick up the samples throughout the day. Please also consider sending photos using our
HOLIDAY HOURS: The university and lab will be closed November 25-26 and the Purdue University Winter Reccess is December 23, 2021 - January 2, 2022. In order to allow time for sample processing December 16 is the latest we can accept most samples. December 9th is the cutoff date to accept samples that require DNA/molecular work such as oak wilt testing or species identification of pathogens. Please contact us if you have any questions about specific samples or situations.
*The PPDL and county extension offices DO NOT provide soil or tissue testing. You may refer to the Services and Fees page for a list of commercial labs.
