College Decision Time
This is the time of year where college decisions come out, and I know Purdue’s decisions were just let out this week! Here are some tips that helped me 3 years ago decide where I would want to spend my undergraduate years at.
- Academics- this is the whole reason we go to school! Look into the program you want to study, what the students are doing with it, how to get involved, etc. For some people, going to a top school in their field of study is the most important factor, ensuring they get a good education.
- Environment- what feels like home? Obviously a campus won’t feel like home for a lot of people right away. Consider how the campus is laid out, how the department receives you, if you could envision yourself there in the future.
- Finances- in all reality, making sure school is affordable is so important to set yourself up for post graduation and minimizing debt. There are a TON of supplemental scholarships students can apply for outside of university scholarships. Having faculty that help you with this is important too!
- Involvement- going to Purdue, where every student seems to be very involved in clubs, councils, research, their academics, etc, has pushed me to do the same and get the full experience.
