Summer 2025 Review

This summer I had the opportunity to return home and intern for Keystone as a sales intern at the Hamilton, MI location (p.s. the most profitable location). Keystone was kind enough to create this internship for me, as we don’t normally have a sales intern in Michigan. A year ago I wasn’t even considering returning to Keystone, as I had interned there in 2023, but the more I looked into internships last fall, the more I realized that the best way to gain relationships with local farmers in West Michigan was to return to Keystone. My summer was spent between scouting, pulling samples, helping fill orders in the warehouse, analyzing sap test results, and meeting with prospective customers. Sales agronomy is all about the relationships, and I was able to build relationships all summer. I grew a deeper connection with my coworkers, and between filling tanks for side dress and actually going to farms, I got to know a lot of farmers. The farmers are the whole reason I love agronomy, and being able to help them succeed is so fulfilling to me.

Non-work related, it was also very nice to be home for the summer. In 2024, I stayed in Indiana and I really missed those small things at home, like going to the beach with my friends, or my family’s Wednesday night tradition of going out on the boat. It was so good to spend a straight 3 months with my family. Additionally, we got to go to Washington and Alaska this summer. It was probably one of the best trips I have ever gone on, and I highly recommend getting out there someday if you are able.

Although I am sad summer is over, I am being intentional about making the most out of my senior year. It won’t be very long until I will be done with college forever, so having fun this year is a priority. I am so thankful to be at Purdue and I know this last year is going to be great!
