Tips for the Career Fair

With the career fair coming up next Tuesday I thought it would be fitting to give you guys some helpful tips before going!
- Make sure you have a dedicated binder/portfolio/folder to hold your resumes. I like to also label the outside of mine. I like to also bring a minimum of 5 resumes printed out to hand out to employers.
- I recommend having a list in your mind of employers you want to visit and make sure to do research beforehand on their company values/morals to use as buzzwords in any conversations you may have.
- Dress to impress! Dress pants + dress shirt + close toed shoes = the key to success! (College of ag nametag is a bonus!)
- Practice your elevator speech! This is very important as you have a very limited amount of time to make a lasting impression.
- Leave your friends at the door! Although it definitely feels more comfortable to walk around with your group of friends, it can look very unprofessional and immature to potential employers. Walking around confidently by yourself shows you have good independence!
- Practice a good, firm handshake- your handshake can say a lot about you!
Goodluck to everyone attending the college of ag career fair!
