Animal Caretaker Job Description
The Purdue Swine Research and Education Center is seeking qualified students to fill a part-time position. Our goal is to provide quality research while offering educational opportunities to students who have a sincere interest in swine production agriculture. Applicants should be dependable, conscientious, and self-motivated with a desire to learn and take on responsibility. Good communication skills are a must. Previous swine/farm equipment experience is preferred, but not required. Applicants should expect to work 1-2 weekends per month, and some holidays.
Daily Job Tasks include:
Feeding, weaning, weighing, breeding, washing, repairs, normal animal husbandry, set up for research projects, clean buildings - including pressure washing, and hauling bagged feed. All students must be able to lift 50 pounds.
