Thinking about graduating soon?

If you are thinking about graduating in the next year, there are some things you need to consider.

  • Meet with your academic advisor to be sure you will meet all graduation requirements:
    • 120 credits
    • 32 credits at the 300-level or higher
    • complete all required courses
  • Let your advisor and the undergraduate program coordinator know about any minors or second majors you are pursuing.
  • Keep your advisor and the undergraduate program coordinator informed about your plans. We are here to help you!!

What will y​our next step be?

Will you be searching for a job or furthering your education? Do you need to prepare a resume and buy a suit or study up for the GREs or MCATs? Do you have faculty and professionals in the field to write letters of reference for you?

Applying​ for Medical School?

  • Be sure you will meet all the pre-medicine course requirements (vary by school).
  • Be able to demonstrate your sincere interest in health care by observing/shadowing a physician and performing service/volunteer activities related to medicine.
  • Get advice from the Center for Pre-Professional Advising
  • Take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test)
  • Apply early! Most schools admit on a rolling basis, meaning you have a better chance of getting in the sooner you apply. Plan to submit your application by June-August of the year before you want to enter medical school. (Example - apply in July 2013 for fall 2014). Most medical schools use the AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service).
