Extension Entomology Overview
From pollinator protection to integrated pest management (IPM), we seek to improve the quality of life in Indiana and the region. Extension specialists conduct and gather results of applied research to develop programs that address insect related issues which threaten natural resources, public health, and the production of food and fiber. We deliver these programs through a wide variety of professional organizations that are supported by various clientele groups and the efforts of Extension Educators in 92 field offices throughout the state. Information is delivered in person and through a combination of social media, websites, manuals, and mobile apps.
Insect Educational Outreach
Insects and other arthropods are a great vehicle for promoting science education. Department faculty, staff, and students provide engaging programs throughout the year that highlight the biology, ecology, and diversity of insects. Programs targeting K-12 audiences are delivered in the classroom as well as through on-campus tours and annual events such as Bug Bowl.
