land use planning education

Land Use Planning and Education is focused on developing and delivering trainings on land-use topics that are relevant, informative, and responsive to the issues faced by Indiana communities and plan commissions. Many resources we develop are disseminated in collaboration with the Purdue Land Use Team, which unites Purdue University faculty, Purdue Extension specialists, and regional / county Extension educators to develop resources for local governments on land-use issues.

Target Audiences

Our education efforts are aimed at decision-makers and local leaders involved in local land-use issues, which may include:

  • Plan commission members, including Extension professionals
  • Government agency liaisons
  • Local officials
  • Representatives of nonprofit groups
  • Students
  • Interested residents of the community

Format

To facilitate convenient access to a variety of participants, our trainings and publications use various formats. Our efforts include:

  • Organizing training events
  • Administering online courses
  • Hosting webinars
  • web-based publications
