Gerry Harrison's Extension education, teaching and research focuses on farm management, estate planning, federal tax law and numerous legal topics with emphasis on Indiana agriculture. Gerry is a Member of the Indiana Bar. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles, papers, and publications for 42 years at Purdue. He serves for 10 years as a resource specialist on the Purdue Land Use Team. The Land Use Team won the Purdue Ag Dean’s Ag Team Award in 2002.

His program is of daily assistance to farmers, landowners, lawyers and accountants in Indiana and beyond for: farm management, estate planning, business organization and many other legal and tax topics such as farmland leasing, conservation easements, like-kind exchanges and mineral leasing.

He presents seminars in Indiana on Estate and Family Farm Business Transfer Planning and on Ag Law and Taxes … . His seminars serve not only farmers and landowners with continuing education credits for Indiana lawyers, accountants and insurance producers.

Besides the Ag Law course, which Gerry initiated in 1981, he also developed “federal income tax law” as a Dept. of Ag Econ course in 1983 and taught the course for 13 years and has resumed teaching the course in 2011. He also taught the “Estate Planning” course to undergraduates at Purdue. Gerry was the editor and co-founder (1973) of what is now the Purdue Agricultural Economics Report--available currently and archived at: http://www.agecon.purdue.edu/extension/pubs/paer/.
