Dairy Judging Team Competing Across the U.S.

Two Department of Agricultural Economics students are ½ of the 2019 Dairy Judging Team! Isabell Wellman (Junior, Sales and Marketing; New Haven, IN) and Katarina Emerich (Sophomore, Agribusiness; Mooers, NY) have been busy traveling the U.S. in the last few months!

The team competed at the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, PA, World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI, and the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, KY!  Next, they will be competing at the Fort Worth Stock Show in January!  The team was 3rd in Jerseys at Harrisburg, 4th in Guernseys at Madison, and 2nd in Ayrshires/5th in Guernseys at Louisville!

Wellman stated, “I have enjoyed getting to experience all the contests and grow closer with my teammates. This is an awesome experience I would have never imagined about getting but I am so glad that I have been able to experience it and have got to meet so many cool people along the way!”

Emerich added, “My best memories include Isabelle's pep talks the night before every contest, seeing all the people I know from dairy related activities from other universities, and getting the chance to see and judge the best cattle in the country.”
