Principal Investigator
Dr. Yichao Rui is the Principal Investigator of the Purdue Agroecology Lab. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agronomy at Purdue University.
He received his Bachelor's in Biological Sciences from Nankai University, and PhDs from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Microbial Ecology) and Griffith University (Soil Science).
His research focuses on unravelling the mechanistic processes that underpin soil and crop resiliency, and identifying opportunities where current cropping systems can be implemented with agroecological principles to improve their performance and long-term sustainability.
Having lived, worked, and run marathons on three continents, Yichao loves travelling and hiking with his family. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching youth basketball and kayaking.
