HLA Extension Resources
This annually-revised guide is a summary of currently suggested fertility, horticultural, and pest management techniques and tools for commercial vegetable growers, and is a collaboration of land-grant universities from eight states. It provides contact and vegetable production information that is valid for the current year in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio.
This guide provides conventional pest management recommendations for commercial tree fruit, small fruit, and grape producers throughout the Midwest and surrounding states. These recommendations have been formulated to provide up-to-date information on pesticides and their application.

The Midwest Vegetable Trial Report series includes reports of applied research relevant to vegetable and melon production in the midwestern U.S. The purpose of the series is to publish results in a timely manner, and to document annual results of research projects.
Indiana is one of the major watermelon and cantaloupe producing states. Variety selection based on yield, disease resistance, and fruit quality are some of the critical decisions in production. Watermelon and melon variety evaluations are conducted at Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center in Vincennes, IN every year. Variety trial reports and presentation slides from our grower meetings can be found on this website.
