- AGRY 349: Soil Ecology
- AGRY 580: Soil and Rhizosphere Microbiology
- AGRY 598: Introduction to Plant-Microbe Research for Conservation and Climate Adaptation
Areas of Expertise:
- Climate and Energy Solutions
- Environmental Quality and Restoration
- Sustainability Science
Career Interests:
- Biotechnologist
- Bioremediation Specialist
- Bioinformatician
- Microbiology Lab Technician
Research Interests:
My research focuses on how microorganisms influence ecosystem productivity and the flow of plant-derived ‘green’ carbon. We aim to use ecological insights and biological innovations to enhance natural resource use in managed ecosystems, explore new biotechnologies, and understand our planet’s natural history.
Student Opportunities:
- Molecular Biology: DNA extractions, PCR, DNA sequencing, using a liquid-handling robot
- Microbiology: Culturing and isolating microorganisms
- Bioinformatics: Analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data
Outreach Experience:
While I don't have an official extension appointment, I collaborate with extension and conservation agents to share knowledge about soil biology.
