WORLD-CHANGING RESEARCH

From basic plant biology to translational agriculture, technology converges with the things Purdue Agriculture excels at doing. Data science strengthens our ability to address challenges related to crop yield, food production and sustainability.

The original investment in plant sciences that was part of Purdue Moves more than five years ago has positioned the University as a global leader in plant sciences research. Translation of that research has positively impacted agriculture in Indiana and around the world.

Our initial focus on the many facets of plant sciences strengthened research and teaching in the College of Agriculture as well as outreach to producers and stakeholders in Indiana and around the world.

We will build on this success as part of Purdue’s Next Moves in new but related areas, chosen strategically to extend our reach and impact.

This effort leverages and expands Purdue Agriculture’s expertise across plant biology, phenotyping, digital agriculture and agricultural economics. Collectively they will enable us to add value to plants by optimizing productivity, nutrition and sustainability traits, and linking these to consumer preferences.

Purdue will be known as the place to bring forward a future where the environment and agriculture work hand in hand to sustainably feed its growing population.

BUILDING ON SUCCESS

Purdue Moves original investment in plant sciences more than five years ago has positioned the University as a global leader in plant sciences research, positively impacting agriculture in Indiana and around the world.

Our initial focus on the many facets of plant sciences strengthened research and teaching in the College of Agriculture as well as outreach to producers and stakeholders in Indiana and around the world.

Now as part of Purdue’s Next Moves, we will build on this past success in new but related areas, chosen strategically to extend our reach and impact.

Purdue will be known as the place to bring forward a future where the environment and agriculture work hand in hand to develop a world that can feed its population with food they want to eat while protecting our natural ecosystems.

Achieving this vision will be a transformative process for Purdue University by merging cross-disciplinary expertise and for our state, country and the world by introducing new methods to address some of our greatest global challenges.
