DISTINGUISHED AG ALUMNI AWARD GUIDELINES

Background
The Purdue Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award was created in 1992. Each year, 10 or fewer alumni are selected to receive the award. The selection committee is comprised of three people of the Dean's choosing, two members of the Dean's Advisory Council and two members of the Ag Alumni Association board of directors. The Purdue Ag Alumni Association administers the program.


Criteria
Nominees must:

  • Have a degree from Purdue's College of Agriculture (associate, bachelors, masters or PhD) that was conferred within the last 10-25 years (since most recent degree)
  • Have made a significant contribution to their profession and/or society in general
  • Have a record of outstanding personal and professional accomplishments
  • Exhibit high potential for future professional growth, particularly in positions of greater responsibility, and service to their profession and to society
  • Not be a current Purdue Agriculture employee or past recipient of an honorary doctorate

Nomination Document
Please use the provided cover sheet with your nomination document, and include the following biographical information about the nominee (a current CV or resume would be appropriate but is not required).

  • Current position
  • Education (institution, graduation year, degree)
  • Professional positions held, professional accomplishments, or farm/business accomplishments if self-employed.
  • Professional, civic, and service activities and contributions
  • Awards and any other information you wish the committee to consider

Support Statement
In no more than two pages, describe why you feel this nominee merits the distinguished agricultural alumni award. Include outstanding personal qualifications, professional and civic accomplishments, and how this individual stands out among others in their profession.


Submission and Event Details

  • Nominations are due February 2nd and should be submitted via email to Samantha Pugh at  sbpugh@purdue.edu. Nominations are considered for three years, and can be updated.
  • No more than 1/3 of the alumni honored each year can come from academic careers. Multiple diverse nominations are encouraged from each department. A department will not have more than one winner per year.
  • Award recognition will take place in the fall. Selected alumni must be present to receive the
