Overview
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) seeks a Botanist/Invasive Plant Specialist to support natural resource management at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. This hybrid role (minimum 3 days on-site) focuses on invasive plant control, restoration, and vegetation management while collaborating with base staff and CSU project managers.
Key Duties
- Conduct field surveys, mapping, and invasive plant treatments (herbicide/manual).
- Manage restoration/revegetation projects in riparian, upland, or wildlife habitat areas.
- Collect, analyze, and report data; prepare technical reports and work plans.
- Oversee subcontractors/field staff and liaise with stakeholders.
- Support related projects (wildlife monitoring, compliance, recreation, etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in botany, biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field.
- 2+ years invasive plant management; 1+ year ecological restoration.
- Ability to ID Mojave Desert native/invasive species.
- Strong reporting, data analysis, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain California Qualified Applicator License.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
Preferred
- Master’s degree; field crew leadership; military installation experience.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS/Field Maps/Survey123.
- Strong organizational and data QA/QC skills.
