Park Allies Conservation Member Position

Term: 450-1700 hours (3-10 months) between September 2024 – August 2025
Reports to: Grant Administrator (AmeriCorps Director)

Position Overview
Join the Park Allies AmeriCorps program to support park restoration in West Lafayette. Gain experience in arboriculture, conservation, and public service while contributing to the health of local parks. This role is ideal for those passionate about the outdoors and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in park and greenspace development
  • Perform landscape maintenance and conservation tasks
  • Participate in all crew activities, including training and service days
  • Cultivate community relationships and support educational opportunities
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all members and the public
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; plant identification is a plus
  • At least 18 years old, U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a federal, state, and National Sex Offender background check
  • Term Schedule
  • 450-1700 hours between September 2024 – August 2025. Monday-Friday with some evenings and weekends.

Benefits
Living Allowance Stipend: Up to $23,000
AmeriCorps Segal Education Award: Up to $7,395 upon successful completion

Physical Requirements
Physically demanding role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various outdoor conditions.
