Position Announcement: Conservation Resource Technician

The Vermillion/Parke Soil Health Alliance, a joint venture between Vermillion and Parke County SWCDs, seeks a full-time Conservation Resource Technician. The position is based in Vermillion County, under the supervision of the Vermillion and Parke SWCD Administrators and Boards.

Role Overview:
Seeking a skilled natural resources technician to provide technical assistance and support program functions and educational outreach. Responsibilities include advising on conservation issues, tracking assistance and program status, and delivering educational programs.

Preferred Experience:
Fieldwork and conservation recommendations
GIS systems and mapping
Knowledge of Western Indiana native and invasive species
Multi-tasking and adapting to priorities
Public speaking and educational content creation

Duties:
Water quality monitoring/testing
Grant research and writing
Implementing cost-sharing applications and programs
Developing urban resource programs
Delivering educational programs and public events
Data entry and reporting
Public speaking and training
Other related duties

Qualifications:
Degree in agronomy, natural resources, agriculture, or related field, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of soil health, native plants, watersheds, and invasive species management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard grammar
Effective communication skills
Compliance with personnel policies and work rules
Ability to work in a team and maintain respectful relationships
Valid Indiana driver’s license and safe driving record
Work Environment:
Standard office and outdoor/field settings, including physical activity and exposure to elements.

Compensation:
$35,000 per year with benefits, grant-funded for 1 year with potential for extension. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, sick leave, and retirement contributions. Normal hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
