Park Allies Greenspace Lead Position


Term: 450-1700 hours (3-10 months) between September 2024 – August 2025
Supervision: Greenspace Administrator, Grant Administrator (AmeriCorps Director)

Position Overview
Join the Park Allies AmeriCorps program to support urban tree canopy development in West Lafayette. Engage in hands-on work in the nursery, community engagement, and environmental education. This role offers valuable experience in arboriculture, conservation, and public service, focusing on park restoration activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in greenspace development and community engagement
  • Plan and oversee conservation projects like invasive plant removal and native plantings
  • Perform landscape maintenance, including planting, pruning, and watering
  • Lead a diverse team, coordinate logistics, and ensure project completion
  • Promote environmental education and tree conservation awareness
  • Support community events and maintain safety protocols
Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in volunteer or service-based organizations
  • Project management and coordination skills
  • Strong communication and public speaking abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office; ArcGIS experience is a plus
  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification

Term Schedule
450-1700 hours between September 2024 – August 2025. Monday-Friday with some evenings and weekends.

Benefits
Living Allowance Stipend: Up to $25,760
AmeriCorps Segal Education Award: Up to $7,395 upon successful completion

Physical Requirements
This role requires physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various outdoor conditions.
