Park Allies Nature Camp Naturalist Position
Term: 450 hours between May - August 2025
Supervision: Park Naturalist, Grant Administrator (AmeriCorps Director)
Position Overview
Join the Park Allies AmeriCorps program to support and develop the Lilly Nature Camp and contribute to park conservation. Engage children in environmental education and outdoor recreation while gaining experience in conservation, environmental education, and natural resource management. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leadership, conservation, and the outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with environmental stewardship and community development.
- Plan and lead nature walks, hikes, and educational programs.
- Address camper behavior and communicate with parents.
- Maintain safety and accurate records, including incident reports.
- Participate in conservation practices such as planting and removing invasive species.
- Engage in team activities, including service days and training.
- Experience with youth, teaching, or environmental education is preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills.
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Ability to pass federal, state, and National Sex Offender background checks.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Term Schedule
- 450 hours between May - August 2025. Monday-Friday with some evenings and weekends.
- Living Allowance Stipend: Up to $6,000
- AmeriCorps Segal Education Award: Up to $1,956.35 upon successful completion.
- Physical Requirements
- This is a physically demanding position requiring frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in various outdoor conditions, including steep and wooded terrain
