About Us
The Story of Stuff Project works to reduce plastic waste and advance environmental justice through education, advocacy, and community organizing. Our Reuse Program builds policy frameworks that make reuse the norm in food and beverage industries.
Position Summary
The Organizer will expand grassroots support for reuse policies across the U.S., train and mentor local activists, and help build coalitions to win local and state-level campaigns. This includes running the Reuse Changemaker Boot Camp, supporting community coalitions, and developing partnerships with allied organizations.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and mentor local activists and coalitions
- Lead and co-develop grassroots campaigns for reuse policies
- Build partnerships with NGOs, EJ groups, climate advocates, and community organizations
- Support research, communications, and strategy for program initiatives
- 5+ years in community organizing, advocacy, or grassroots campaigns
- Experience with coalition-building and policy advocacy (local/state level preferred)
- Strong leadership development and training facilitation skills
- Excellent communication, project management, and relationship-building
- Commitment to equity and working with diverse communities
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends
