Overview
The Watershed Project Manager implements agricultural and urban soil and water conservation practices, promotes public awareness of conservation programs, and utilizes advanced technologies like remote sensors and drones as part of the "Smart Soils Initiative." Employment is grant-funded and follows county policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to landowners on conservation practices.
- Work in the field, including waterways, to collect data and samples.
- Develop databases and evaluate water quality data for watersheds.
- Promote conservation practices through outreach, events, and materials.
- Collaborate with partners, including farmers, agencies, and community members.
- Create and submit required project reports.
- Operate equipment, including power tools and drones, in varying conditions.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or related field.
Experience: 1+ year in land use or natural resource management.
Skills:
- Knowledge of conservation practices and agricultural terminology.
- Strong communication and public speaking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a Federal Homeland Security check.
- Physical & Work Environment
- Field and office work in various weather conditions.
- Lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs) and traverse uneven terrain.
- Frequent use of computers for data entry and analysis.
Schedule & Compensation
Typical Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional nights and weekends.
