Sr. Research and Policy Analyst

Overview:
Earthjustice, a leading nonprofit environmental law organization, seeks a Sr. Research and Policy Analyst to support policy analysis and advocacy efforts in environmental health, focusing on toxic exposure, clean air and water, and food and farming issues. This hybrid role will collaborate with the Healthy Communities program and report to the Legislative Director, requiring two days a week in the DC office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop strategies for using information requests and conduct research for policy advocacy.
  • Collaborate with lobbyists, lawyers, and experts to design reports and analyses.
  • Engage in direct advocacy with federal agencies.
  • Cultivate partnerships, allies, and coalitions to support assigned issues.
  • Serve as a senior technical and policy expert, advocate, and possibly a spokesperson.
  • Draft and manage submissions of letters, reports, and supporting materials.
  • Additional tasks may include project management, DEI initiatives, and managing non-legal interns.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in environmental justice policy preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills, including data analysis.
  • Experience analyzing scientific and technical documents and presenting information to various audiences.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and GIS.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Experience writing for peer-reviewed science journals is a plus.

Compensation:
Based on experience and location.
Washington, DC: $106,500 - $118,300
