Aquaculture Outreach Assistant – Summer 2026
Locations: Remote
Company: Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant
Assist with program planning and outreach for a multistate aquatic animal health initiative in collaboration with Ohio State and Michigan State Universities. Support aquaculture education efforts and farmer engagement alongside the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant team.
Responsibilities
- Work with the project team to establish and implement criteria for the diagnostic
assistance program - Assist with workshop planning
- Work collaboratively with partners to identify and develop extension materials
- Visit farms in Indiana and Illinois
- Assist with in-person programming
- Schedule virtual meetings
- Work with Purdue staff to purchase materials and supplies
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at Purdue University, West Lafayette
- Experience with, or an interest in, outreach
- Academic background in biology, fisheries, natural resources sciences, farm
management, animal science, or a related field - Strong written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and multitask
- A valid driver’s license
- Declared a major in pre-veterinary medicine or a current veterinary student
- Comfortable with interstate travel
- Interest in aquatic animal health
Wage: $17/hour
