Seasonal Technicians – Entomology & Agroecology (Purdue University, IN)


Join the Kaplan Insect Ecology Lab for a hands-on summer research experience in pest management, pollination, and insect biodiversity! We are hiring two full-time seasonal technicians from May to September/October 2025.

What We Offer:
  • Hands-on research in agricultural ecosystems
  • Field and lab experience (insect surveys, rearing, pinning, data entry)
  • Travel to Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa (expenses covered)
  • $18/hour
  • Duties (Project Dependent):
  • Survey natural enemies & pollinators
  • Monitor pest densities & plant health
  • Conduct biocontrol agent applications
  • Pollinate flowers, harvest fruit, and analyze pollen
  • Process field samples & enter data
Requirements:
Essential:
  • Undergraduate degree (or pending) in Entomology, Ecology, Agriculture, or related field
  • Valid driver’s license & flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently & in hot weather
  • Attention to detail & enthusiasm
Desirable (Training Provided):
  • Insect identification, ecological surveys, or DNA analysis experience
