COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

Location: Portland, OR
Compensation: $57,000 - $62,000
Position Type: Full-time, 35-hr work week

This year’s intern will help us align our conservation work with community interests and growing and diversifying our audience. In addition to developing a wide range of educational materials and representing us at events throughout the summer, the intern will help identify potential opportunities to partner with organizations already working in the educational space as well as opportunities to reach more audiences through education. This internship is primarily focused on researching and developing a collection of educational materials for staff use, rather than teaching classes or workshops.

Responsibilities:

  • Digital, Print, and Misc. Communications
  • Fundraising Events

Experience:

  • Training, education, or experience in communications or outreach. This may include a college
    degree, work experience, or volunteer experience.
  • Highly collaborative style and team ethic
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience in digital content creation and management (social media, e-newsletters, and
    websites - Canva, Mailchimp, and Squarespace experience ideal but not required)
  • Basic video editing (simple splicing, plus adding music and text via Canva or other software)
  • Interest in natural resource conservation and local community engagement
  • Some work experience, volunteer experience, or educational coursework in natural resources,
    conservation, or environmental topics is preferred.
