FIA Staff Forester / Woodland Ecologist I
Location: Kerrville, TX
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
Annual Salary: $54,000
The position will serve as forest survey crew member for the Forest
Inventory & Analysis (FIA) crew. They will investigate land ownership in the tax office, contact
landowners, locate plot locations, collect, and transmit forest inventory data and meet production
goals. They will also assist with local and statewide emergency response incidents. The position must perform related duties when required and is encouraged to be involved with local community and professional activities not specifically related to the Texas A&M
Forest Service
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource field (ex. Forestry, Range Science, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Management…)
- Strong dendrology and vegetation inventory knowledge
preferred. Must have communication, organization, and documentation skills - Must have a valid Texas driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment,
with record within Agency standards.- Employee must meet and annually maintain a physical fitness standard which includes
successfully completing a two mile walk in 30 minutes or less with a 25-pound pack and
obtain required NWCG training and Red Card Certification. - Must be able to work overtime, with some overnight travel.
