Social Media and Communications Assistant

Location: Lafayette, IN

Compensation: $14/hour

Tippecanoe Senior Services, established in 1973 as The Center at Jenk’s Rest, exists to provide seniors with services and programs to promote overall wellness. Tippecanoe Senior Services operates four unique programs: (1) The Senior Center, (2) Meals on Wheels of Greater Lafayette, (3) Senior Home Assistance Repair Program (SHARP), and (4) Transportation Assistance Program (TAP).

Responsibilities:

The Social Media and Communications Assistant exist to support the mission of the Tippecanoe Senior Services  through social media account management and written communications to seniors, families, and donors.

  • Manage and update social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) with engaging content tailored to seniors, families, and donors.
  • Schedule posts and maintain a consistent posting calendar aligned with organizational goals.
  • Monitor engagement, respond to messages and comments, and cultivate online community relationships.
  • Draft and edit newsletters, press releases, email campaigns, and website updates.
  • Develop marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media graphics.
  • Collaborate with program staff to capture stories, photos, and testimonials from clients.
  • Participate in agency events as requested
  • Participate in agency staff meetings
  • Follow all agency guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital content creation: Basic graphic design ability including Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar; Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects
  •  Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems, demonstrate leadership ability within a complex organization; ability to lift materials up to 25 pounds
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, obtain CPR/First Aid within 60 days of hire, complete abuse training within 30 days of hire; clean driving record
