People with healthier diets are significantly more likely to check nutrition labels regularly. According to data from the Consumer Food Insight Survey, 42% of individuals classified as having a healthy diet “always” check labels, compared to just 18% in the unhealthy group. In contrast, 31% of those with unhealthy diets “never” or “rarely” check labels, while this behavior is far less common among healthy eaters (only 8%).
The trend suggests that frequent label-checking may play a key role in making healthier food choices—or reflect a greater overall awareness of nutrition. Label literacy could be a small habit with a big impact.
