Invasive Plant Technician
This position would work to improve ecosystems and habitats on WREC-owned property, and the properties of our community partners. This is a 100% field job, primarily consisting of cutting and treating honeysuckle, tree of heaven, and wintercreeper.
Primary duties
- Use hand tools, electric tools, and herbicides to manage invasive plants.
- Navigate both urban and rural properties, through thick vegetation and uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
- Work both alone and with other technicians.
- Earn an herbicide technician certification, paid for by WREC.
Desired qualifications
- Field experience
- Invasive plant experience
- Plant identification experience
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Safety-minded
- Experience working both on a team and solo
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and navigate uneven terrain
- Reliable transportation to both urban and rural properties
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Compensation: $19/hour, approximately 5 hours/week
