Contaminated Water and an Indication of Risk: Examining Microbial Contamination in the Water Used by Consumers and Commercial Growers in Fresh Produce Systems in Nepal

Resource Description

Water quality is a key aspect of food safety in developing countries. When consumed raw, fresh produce is more susceptible to causing foodborne illness when contaminated water is used during production and in meal preparation. This paper uses Escherichia coli (E. coli) detection as an indicator of contamination risk in water sources used by consumers and producers in the produce (fruit and vegetable) value chain in Nepal.
