Summary:
Environmental education is important to help communities better understand aspects of the Wabash River. Every summer the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation (WREC) holds a summer Riverfest event to celebrate and educate the community about conservation and environmental education. There are a lot of fun activities for the entire family, and lots of the attractions are aimed at young children which aims to inform the community about what WREC does to conserve and protect the Wabash. This encourages people to take up conservation practices in their own day-to-day life. However, the educational posters of the WREC are outdated and difficult to read. Therefore, our project aims to create informational content for Riverfest to use to educate individuals within the Tippecanoe community on various topics involving the Wabash River. We developed informational banners and social media posts through a proper literature review and research reports such as common causes of poor water quality in the Wabash River watershed and fish and mussels species in the Wabash River. We look forward to the WREC using our posters and banners at other WREC events over the next few years.
