COVID-19 CASES AMONG AGRICULTURAL WORKERS

This dashboard shows the estimated number of agricultural workers with COVID-19. The map and table show the total number of COVID cases in each state.

The vulnerability of the supply of an agricultural commodity to risks such as COVID-19 depend on the number of farmers and agricultural workers affected, the location of affected workers, the crops and animals that are grown in the most impacted regions, and the degree to which production is concentrated in a particular geographic region.

HOW TO USE THE DASHBOARD

Click on a state to see a more detailed county-level map with the estimated number of farm and agricultural workers with COVID-19.

VARIABLE DEFINITIONS

Expected Number of Agricultural Workers with COVID-19: calculated at the county level as (Total Agricultural Workers divided by Population) multiplied by (Confirmed COVID-19 Cases).

DATA SOURCES

The dashboard makes use of three datasets: (1) John Hopkins University data on the number of COVID cases in each U.S. county; (2) Each county’s total population from 2010 U.S. Census; and (3) U.S. Department of Agriculture data on the number of farmers and hired farm workers in each county.
