PEMC Spring Symposium - April 10th, 2026

Join the PEMC for our Spring Symposium on April 10th, 2026! The day will include presentations from PEMC users, staff, and vendors.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided for networking opportunities, and hors d'oeuvres will be served during a poster session to round out the event.  This event is a wonderful opportunity to see the broad applications of electron microscopy and chat with current users and the EM Center staff. Please register for the event if you plan to attend so the EM staff can plan accordingly for food and space.

Overview

The day will start in the lobby of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship (MRGN) at 9:00 am, with coffee and light breakfast sponsored by Oxford Instruments, who is the manufacturer of six EDX/EBSD detectors in the Center.  Once you are caffeinated to your desired level, we will move to the nearby lecture theater, MRGN 121 to listen to our various presenters:

  1. PEMC users, highlighting research currently being supported by electron microscopy.
  2. PEMC staff, highlighting new techniques available in the Center.
  3. EM vendors, highlighting new advances in electron microscopy technology.

The presentations will be broken up with short coffee/networking breaks, and lunch sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific, who is the manufacturer of ten of the electron microscopes in the center.  At the conclusion of the presentations, we will move on to poster presentations showcasing more research that is supported by the PEMC.  Hors d'oeuvres will be provided during the poster session.

Finally, we will round out the day with a virtual tour of our three locations across campus (as April showers are notorious, we will omit the cross-campus walk in the rain this year!)
