Growing Together Initiative

What is Growing Together?
Growing Together, launched by the Office of Multicultural Programs at Purdue, is a dynamic initiative aimed at fostering both professional and personal development within our College community. Through a series of engaging programs, the initiative focuses on intercultural learning, community building, and career advancement, ensuring that all members of our employee network can thrive. By supporting the unique needs of our community, Growing Together Series cultivates a more inclusive and empowering environment for our staff and faculty.

The Initiatives
The Faculty and Staff Resource Hub
Created as a part of the Roadmap for Inclusive Excellence Development (RIED), the resource hub provides a consolidated list of resources for professional and personal development.
The Multicultural Monthly was launched in February 2025 with the intention of highlighting events and programming out of the Office of Multicultural Programs, celebrate heritage months, spotlight campus resources, and bring attention to the inclusive excellence work of colleagues in the College of Agriculture.
Monthly editions are sent college-wide to the agcollege.everyone listserv.

Awareness Months seminar Series
Our webinar and seminar series aligns with the various National Awareness and Heritages Months throughout the year. We aim to draw attention to different communities by offering webinars with guest speakers from Purdue and the local community. Within the Growing Together initiative, we host at least one webinar per semester.
While not all webinars and seminars are recorded, an archive of those that are can be found below.
Native American Heritage Month (November 2024) - The Three Sisters: Honoring Indigenous Agriculture
Black History Month (February 2025) - Highlighting Haitian Experiences in Indiana
Women's History Month (March 2025) - A Conversation with Dr. Karen Plaut: Honoring Her Legacy at Purdue
Training and Workshop Opportunities
The Office of Multicultural Programs in collaboration with other departments and offices on campus, provide training and workshops to increase understandings of different communities and better engage with our students and colleagues on campus.
Community Building Events
We know how important it is for faculty and staff to feel they are part of a community. To that end, each semester we offer an event that focuses on building community. In the Fall term, we host our annual Faculty and Staff Resource Fair, reserved solely for College of Ag. In the Spring, we offer a mixer or community volunteering opportunity.
