Course Overview

The Club at Holliday Farms is a Golf Course Community that sits on the Northwest side of Indianapolis in the small town of Zionsville, Indiana. We are a Pete Dye-designed 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole Par 3 course with a complete practice area. We opened in June of 2021. In 2021, Holliday Farms was Named #2 Best Private New Course and #5 Best Overall New Course.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a crew that is highly motivated to become successful in this industry. Our grass varieties at The Club at Holliday Farms: Greens (Pure Distinction), Tee & Fairways (Crystal Bluelinks), and rough (Turf Type Tall Fescue). Our brand new irrigation system is the Toro 2-wire Lynx system with Infinity Toro heads.

Position Summary

As a valued employee of The Club at Holliday Farms Agronomy team, Interns will work directly with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. Interns will assist with the day-to-day maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who aims to excel in the turf industry. This candidate should be a self-starter who takes pride in their work ethic and values being a team player. This position will expose candidates to a wide variety of turf practices.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business
  • Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Seeking candidates who can work anywhere from a 3-month to 9 9-month internship

Position Responsibilities

  • Daily mowing of all playing surfaces with walk-behind units and riding units
  • Proper water management (hand watering, etc.)
  • Fertilizer and chemical applications (proper calibration and techniques)
  • Proper course setup (daily hole and tee locations and detailed work)
  • Cultural practices (topdressing, aerification, etc.)
  • Irrigation maintenance (irrigation head fixes, pipe repairs, locating/troubleshooting wiring issues)
  • Learning how to manage according to the weather
  • Communicate well with the crew, management, and members
  • Carry oneself with professionalism in both appearance and demeanor
  • Understand the importance of networking, career preparation, and record keeping

Educational Requirements

Must be working towards obtaining a 2 or 4-year turf degree.

Special Requirements

Each internship will be based on the individual's current skill level and knowledge of the golf course. We will tailor each internship experience to the areas where we feel the intern needs to grow. With this internship, you will have the possibility of becoming an employee of Holliday Farms.
