ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE RESEARCH PROFESSOR
Biology and Management of Indoor Urban Pests

 The Department of Entomology at Purdue University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Research Professor, Biology and Management of Indoor Urban Pests to join our team. The successful candidate will provide scholarly leadership and conduct high-impact research in one or more areas of basic and applied urban pest management, with an emphasis on pests of built environments such as cockroaches, bed bugs and other indoor pests and their control. This role could encompass work on the biology and behavior of pests, their toxicological response to pesticides, including physiological and genetic mechanisms of resistance, innovations in applied pest management research and the development of sustainable pest magament technologies. The role may incorporate modern molecular biology, computational modeling and AI approaches to understand pest populations and mitigate their impact on human health. The position is affiliated with the Center for Urban and Industrial Pest Management (CUIPM) which enjoys strong engagement with the U.S. pest management industry and is nationally recognized for leadership in urban entomology. The position will interact with and synergize a number of related urban entomology programs at Purdue and engage with industry and stakeholder groups to address pressing issues associated with indoor urban pests. The position may contribute to undergraduate learning, and the training and mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral and visiting scientists for careers in the pest management industry. This is a nine-month appointment with primary research and minor instructional responsibilities. Expected start date is 1 June 2025.
