Faculty Awards

Ag Research Award
Annual award given to a faculty member in the College of Agriculture who has demonstrated a high level of excellence in the application of scientific principles to the solution of important research problems and who has through his/her research, made significant contributions to agriculture, natural resources, or quality of life of Indiana citizens.

Book of Great Teachers

The Book of Great Teachers (started in 1999) is a permanent wall display in the west foyer of the Purdue Memorial Union. The book bears the names of faculty members, past and present, who have devoted their lives to excellence in teaching and scholarship.

Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher 

This award is the University's highest undergraduate teaching honor.

CoA Outstanding Graduate Educator
Presented to faculty who demonstrate sustained and significant contributions to graduate education at Purdue University.

CoA Richard L. Kohls Outstanding Early Career Award 
Created in 2010, this award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to a career in teaching and working with students, but who have no more than seven concurrent years experience.  

CoA Richard L. Kohls Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher
Recognizes faculty who have demonstrated teaching excellence.

Graduate School Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor

Presented to faculty who demonstrate sustained and significant contributions to graduate education at Purdue University.

Herbert Newby McCoy Award

Purdue's most prestigious research award is presented to researchers who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues. McCoy award winners are nominated by their peers and selected by a committee appointed by the president of the University.

One Brick Higher
Established in 2002 by President Martin Jiscke, this award is presented to faculty, staff and students who go beyond the requirements of their role to improve the lives of those around them, increase the effectiveness of the workplace and/or prevent or solve problems. It is given to faculty, staff and students who undertake their work with extra vitality, extra care, extra creativity and extraordinary effort.

Victor Rodwell 2003 for his dedication to programs that seek out minority students of high potential and encourage them to continue their academic careers.

Seed for Success 
Sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research, this award recognizes the accomplishments of single investigators and teams of investigators for their efforts in obtaining a $1 million dollar or more research grant.

Sigma Xi Award
Each year the Purdue Chapter of the Sigma Xi recognizes one faculty member for outstanding research.

Teaching for Tomorrow Fellowship
Provided by the Classes of 1944 and 1945 this award started in 1997 in order to foster continued excellence in teaching and learning on the Purdue campus and to facilitate the development of the teaching potential of the faculty.

University Faculty Scholars 
The University Faculty Scholars Program recognizes outstanding faculty members at the West Lafayette campus who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.
