Finley Forest

Finley Woods Banner

Finley Woods is located in the Southwestern Lowlands natural region in Clay County. In the past, overgrazing and erosion has occurred on site. Between 1923-1940, roughly 15,000 trees were planted by the previous landowners, the Finley’s. The tree planting, in combination with a few timber harvests, has developed this stand into roughly even-aged with multiple different age classes and a limited understory. There is still a faint “F” visible from aerial views in the northwest corner of the property as it was formed from planted conifers.
