Agriculture/Natural Resources Technician
Location: Cadiz, OH
Position Type: Full-time
RESPONSIBILITIEs
- Seek the cooperation of farmers in understanding nutrient management and other practices to help soil health and water quality.
- Conduct site visits, meet with potential participants to assess soil quality, offer suggestions for conservation practices, provide nutrient management assistance through one-on-one consultation and through group settings to promote sound nutrient management practices. Conduct follow-up activities.
- Promote, assist, and educate farmers and landowners about the best management practices for maintaining healthy soil and clean water; develop ways to mitigate soil erosion, nutrient loading, and water quality issues.
- Must possess and be willing to share knowledge of agronomic production techniques, soil fertility, nutrient and manure management, crop rotations, crop management practices, livestock production management, soil biological processes, plant nutrition and environmental issues related to manure and nutrient management
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Ag, Natural Resources or related field
- Knowledge of CAUV, soil health, crop production, nutrient management and conservation practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills, computer skills, and mapping experience
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
