Purdue Agriculture Encourages Reverse Transfer!

According to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) - (accessed July 16, 2019)...

  • What is a Reverse Transfer?
    • Reverse transfer is the practice of awarding a degree to an individual who left or transferred from a college before earning the degree, but who, after leaving, fulfilled the degree requirements from that college. In other words, credit is transferred back (“in reverse”) to the former institution for the purpose of awarding a degree. A student who earns a reverse transfer degree (usually, an associate degree) might currently be enrolled at a four-year institution or might not be currently in college at all. In short, reverse transfer degrees have three basic requirements: 1) the student used to attend a specific institution, 2) the student does not currently attend that specific institution, and 3) if the student was currently enrolled in that institution, they would be eligible for a degree.

  • Some Possible Benefits to Students:
    • Employment & job promotion opportunities
    • Increased earning power with a college degree
    • Added credential for your resume
    • Receive full credit for your academic achievements
    • Show competency and a dedication to finish an educational milestone
    • Increased likelihood to finish your bachelor’s degree

However, Reverse Transfer does not just benefit you – you can make a difference well beyond yourself!  By showing your academic accomplishments, this is an opportunity to support your former institution, your community, and your state.  Reverse Transfer is a winning situation for all who support college students and for all of us who value the importance of a college education!

If interested, please contact your former college or university directly to find out their specific eligibility requirements and reverse transfer procedures.  Alternatively, if you attended one of the following institutions, you may access or request their reverse transfer information by going to these specific pages below:

Indiana Commission for Higher Education. (2017) Reverse Transfer: Context and Policy Guidance. A Report in Response to House Enrolled Act 1281-2017, November 1, 2017. State of Indiana.
