Insect Macrophotography Workshop

macro photo exampleJoin Dr. Chris Wirth and Dr. Andrew Johnston as they cover all aspects of macrophotography from camera and lens options, settings, and practical use in the field.

The course will be useful to anyone interested in general macro- and nature photography, but is focused on finding and taking photos of insects.

The workshop includes classroom and field activities. Emphasis will be on living subjects, but preserved insects will also be used in the classroom.

The content is designed around using dedicated macro lenses on digital interchangeable-lens cameras (DSLR/mirrorless). Participants may attend with any camera (including cell phones) but will gain the most if they are either considering or already have a macro setup.

Registration includes both days of content, lunch on Saturday, materials for creating a flash diffuser, reference handouts to take with you, and access to an insect blacklighting event on Saturday night.
