Graduate Internship Timeline

Graduate students interested in gaining professional experience beyond the academic laboratory may pursue internships after reaching key program milestones. In most cases, students explore internship opportunities after completing their preliminary exam, typically during the third or fourth year of the PhD program. Internship timing is coordinated with the student’s advisor and the graduate program to ensure continued research progress and alignment with degree requirements.
