Spongy Moth Trap Tender – Job Posting ID 471151 - These are intermittent, seasonal positions conducting the Cooperative Statewide Spongy Moth survey. Duties include setting, monitoring and removing detection and intensive grid traps. Secondary duties may include conducting other surveys and research work of the spongy moth management program. Survey work areas are defined across the state with each area usually comprising at least four counties.
Notes:
Survey work starts late April to mid-May and ends late August to early September.
Employment dates adjusted to and determined with applicant situation.
Work location: survey area associated to your home or your summer location
Work in all weather conditions.
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
State or rental vehicle or pay mileage for personal vehicle ($0.51/mile)
Pay range $13.50-$16.00 depending on applicant qualifications.
Forest Health Surveyor – Job Posting ID 456759 - These are intermittent, seasonal positions conducting the Forest Health Monitoring surveys for Beech Leaf Disease, Thousand Canker Disease of Black Walnut, Herbicide Damage to Oaks, Ground Survey of Aerial Survey data, Oak Wilt, Lingering Ash Trees, and assist with Cooperative Statewide Spongy Moth survey. Duties include setting, monitoring and removing detection and intensive grid traps, strip curse for Beech Leaf Disease, Selecting, measuring, collecting leaf samples of oaks with herbicide symptoms, visiting lingering ash trees to determine acceptance into tree improvement program. Secondary duties may include conducting other surveys, research work and writing newsletters/reports of the forest health program. Survey work occurs across the state and defined to areas convenient to your summer location.
