Green Infrastructure Manager

HOURS:
8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, overtime as needed

SALARY:
$2,504.55 - $2,883.73 bi-weekly

OBJECTIVES:
Renew’s Green Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and
public engagement efforts related to the city’s green infrastructure assets. The ideal candidate is a self starter with a strong passion for environmental protection, restoration, and community education who will
take ownership of the city’s green infrastructure program.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Natural Resources, Environmental Science,
Ecology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of Indiana native plant species.
• Experience with invasive species identification and control.
• Knowledge of landscape design principles and sustainable landscaping practices.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and take initiative.
• Strong passion for environmental protection, watershed health, and ecological restoration.
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Effective communication and public speaking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with city staff, contractors, volunteers, and community partners.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Manage and implement the green infrastructure maintenance program, including rain gardens,
bioswales, permeable pavement systems, and additional nature-based stormwater practices
• Conduct general landscaping duties, including planting, weeding, watering, spraying, mulching,
mowing, pruning, trash and debris removal, and invasive species management
• Perform and oversee routine inspections and maintenance to ensure systems function as
designed.
• Operate vehicles, including trucks, and use power and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Review plans, designs, and construction documents for green infrastructure projects to ensure
alignment with city standards and best practices.
• Provide technical input on maintenance considerations during project planning and design
phases.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation required for MS4 compliance.
• Work collaboratively with local environmental and community partner organizations to plan and
organize educational programs, volunteer workdays, and stewardship events.
• Manage the City’s “Rain Guardian” Adopt-A-Spot Program.
• Deliver presentations and represent the city at public meetings and community events to promote
green infrastructure and stormwater education.
