Purdue University’s ‘Time Machine’

The Purdue Entomological Research Collection was featured in a Purdue Ag article detailing the museum on February 11, 2025. The PERC contains over 1.3 million insect specimens, some dating back nearly 150 years. Managed by Chris Wirth, the collection serves as a vital resource for research, education, and outreach, offering insights into environmental changes and biodiversity over time. Notable specimens include the now-extinct American Burying Beetle in Indiana and the Rocky Mountain Locust. Efforts are underway to digitize and preserve the collection, enhancing accessibility for students, faculty, and global researchers.
